Tarangirie and Elephants ... and elephant shrews ...

We pitched up at Tarangirie late in the afternoon to meet the wonderful John who had helped us with our lost Ngorongoro card. It was 4pm and we were delighted. Candace photographed the map .. shouldn`t be too hard to find our campsite ...little did we know ...

We arrived at camp at 11pm after a flat tyre and a squashed elephant shrew - I did shout and Marty was driving!

When we woke though camp was beautiful (well .. our campsite we never did find the official campsite). They nick-named me `Stop-short M`gog` because I simply needed a cup of tea so desperately we rarely made any of our special campsites.

The scenery of Tarangire was some of my absolute favorite. Red termite mounds, flat topped acacias and river luggas and elephants in the emerald swamps.

We easily saw 250 plus elephant that day ... adults, babies and even one big male that came within inches of the car and made all our knees knock ...

And we climbed into a `Poachers Den,`a baobab with a big hole that inside could fit up to 10 people.

So many incredible elephants ...

Vervet monkeys.

We came across elephants playing in the water and one little guy loved wallowing while others wanted to chase the Egyptian geese ...

Waterbuck.
